Viewing Life
This section observes life as it is. In other words observations and conclusions are drawn from just living without a preconceived ideology. For instance one can believe there is a God because one follows a certain religion, or one can, just by the evidence life affords, come to believe in a maker because it seems self evident from their experience in life. These writings are based on the latter.
I've always been attracted to people and writings that have good observations. My old friend Steve would drive 3000 miles to the West coast when I was there for a short time, and it was as if our conversation never stopped. We continued where we left off and our talks always revolved around observations from life. When one makes a good observation one is almost viewing the event or person from a higher realm. It is you who is observing, but also a higher you at the same time. It lifts you up in a sense.
Another aspect of these writings is my age. Things change after 70 years of age. One sees the futility of so many things. Younger people's ego driven agendas become clear and nonsense becomes exposed. It's almost as if you are being pushed out of life because you no longer respect the game of it. Little stands the test of time and you see the futility of so many actions and plans. This might sound negative but it can be positive in that you become focused on what counts. What counts are certain undeniable principles of life, certain special fleeting moments and experiences, certain revelations seeping into your consciousness, certain appreciations and celebrations of life and the whole phenoma of it, and the joy of comparing notes with another soul who sees the same thing.
Some of these writings will come from the present. Some will be selected from archives of the older website “For These Times.” Hopefully much ground is covered and what's important clarifies itself.
